Here is where to eat the best Mexican food in Atlanta.

Nuevo Laredo Cantina

Nuevo Laredo Cantina on Chattahoochee Ave has amazing food with many authentic Mexican dishes to choose from. This is a small place, and since the food is so good, there is often a wait to get in. The salsa is some of the best you’ll find in Atlanta and comes with just the right amount of spice. You should also make sure to try the chorizo enchiladas, and for the side, you can choose from beans and rice or Mexican mashed potatoes. These mashed potatoes come seasoned with Mexican spices, and they are delicious.

La Pastorcita

Head to La Pastorcita on Buford Highway NE for delicious Mexican food. You can get lunch and dinner at this place, and since it stays open until 1 a.m., it’s also a great place for a late night Mexican snack. The menu includes a wide variety of tacos including Chorizo tacos, Asada, and even tongue tacos. You’ll get them with corn tortillas, fresh onion, and cilantro, or you can request a flour tortilla if you prefer. Agavero Cantina – Atlanta

Agavero Cantina has fantastic Chilaquiles and Carne Asada, and a very cool vibe inside. If you’re hungry, get the fajitas. If you want the biggest bang for your buck, head here on Tuesdays for $2.00 tacos. You can get as many of them as you want, and choose from several different types of meat and flavors, and get both corn and flour tortillas.

Alma Cocina

Alma Cocina is a local favorite on Peachtree St. NE. For starters, try the fried Chihuahua cheese. This comes as a huge hot, bubbly cheese hunk in a lava bowl, which you can take and smear it on tortillas. The list of entrees includes roasted chicken mole, pan roasted snapper, and huitlacoche empanada with fried squash blossoms. The guacamole is also very good, and the menu includes a variety of tacos. Make sure you don’t skip dessert at this place. The chili chocolate cookies are fantastic, and so is the coconut tres leches.
